NSF GK-12 Program

GK-12 Purpose

As a GK-12 fellow at Drexel University, a graduate student collaborates with a math and/or science teacher in grades ranging from 6th to 8th grade in the Philadelphia School District throughout the academic year. This program allows fellows to integrate general engineering knowledge along with specific research interest as a means of presenting fundamental scientific and mathematical concepts. The program is not only meant to motivate and educate the students, but to provide the teacher with the knowledge and tools necessary to incorporate the activities prepared in the curriculum of future years. The detailed activities procedures, handouts and interfaces developed in a previous year at Girard Academic Music Program (GAMP) can be viewed below. These activities will be posted here and eventually at Teach Engineering, which is a website with a database of free curriculum for grade K-12.
